What a day!!! Another early start for our day trip to Rome, after a quick breakfast upstairs we were ready to head out for another adventure in the Med :) This time we were heading off to the capital of Italy...Rome...for a look around as much as we could in the time we had.
The coach journey in took about 1hr 30mins which gave us a chance to grab a little bit more sleep in preparation for a day of walking around. We arrived at the northern part of the city centre where our guide left us to our own devices with nothing more than a map (which turned out to be pretty rubbish!!!) and a warning about pickpockets!! Never the less we headed out into Rome in temperatures already at 25 degrees and glorious sunshine, just what a fair skinned person wants!!!
We started off by passing the City Hall on our way to the Flavian Ampetheatre aka the Colleseum. We signed up for a guided tour which turned out to be very very good although he did make a comment about Liverpool fan's in the same sentence as slaves and criminals!!! Obviously not a football fan :) lol after a short break we went on the second part of the tour around the Roman Forum and Palentino Hill. This was very good and we both learnt some bits and pieces but I think the heat was starting to cook our brains slowly so by the end of the tour we were both ready to make our way back to the bus via the other tourist hotspots including:
The Trive Fountain, The Spanish Steps & The Pantheon. All of which were breathtaking and easy to find as they were the only places surrounded by hundreds of people all taking pictures :)
With all the sightseeing done and feeling slightly weirey we wondered back down the main street Via de Costo (I think anyway!!!) via a few shops and then onto the bus for another quick sleep before getting back onto the ship.
We celebrated our first 2 weeks of marriage by having dinner in the Cafe Jardin, which is a Marco Pierre White restuarant and was OK :) hahaha seriously though it was excellent as you would expect.

See you all soon
